The Therapy Experience: Authentic, Relational, Real

Reaching out (The first step)

The Get-to-Know-You Session

Let's be honest, sending that first message or making that first call can be nerve-wracking. When you reach out, you'll get me directly. We'll schedule a free consultation where we can talk about what's bringing you to therapy and address any questions or concerns you might have.

Initial Consultation: What to Expect

Your 15-minute consultation is a no-pressure space to briefly share what's bringing you to therapy and get a feel for how I work. We'll discuss logistics like scheduling, fees, and any practical questions you have about the therapy process. This conversation helps us both determine if we're a good fit before committing to a full session.

Our first full session is about connection. While I'll need some basic information, this isn't about clinical assessments or labeling—it's about understanding your story and what matters to you. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We'll talk about what you're hoping for from therapy, and I'll be transparent about how I work and how I think I may help.

Therapy isn't always pretty. We'll have breakthrough moments, but also sessions where things feel hard or unclear. That's normal. We might revisit painful experiences, notice uncomfortable patterns, or face difficult truths. I'll be right there with you through it all—not as an expert with all the answers, but as a supportive presence who believes in your capacity to heal.

Finding Our Rhythm

Over the next few sessions, we'll develop our own unique flow. Some days you might need to process something that happened that week; other times we might explore patterns or work on specific skills. I bring my professional knowledge, but you bring the expertise on your life—this is a true partnership. If something isn't working for you, I want to know. Our relationship is the foundation of everything we do.

The Real Work (It gets messy sometimes, and that's okay)

Between Sessions (Connecting therapy to real-life)

Growth happens outside the therapy room too. Sometimes I'll suggest small practices to try, but this isn't about homework or perfection. It's about bringing awareness to your everyday life. You might notice new things or want to capture thoughts between sessions—whatever helps you connect your therapy insights with your real world.
